The AACR Philadelphia Marathon Training Season Kicks off with Bart Yasso, Mark Sullivan, and the Philadelphia Runner

PHILADELPHIA – On Sunday, June 22, Philadelphia Marathon Weekend Race Director Kathleen Titus will officially kick off the AACR Philadelphia Marathon Training season with Bart Yasso, Mark Sullivan, and friends from the Philadelphia Runner.

Participants will gather at the bottom of the Philadelphia Museum of Art Steps at 6:45 a.m. to warm up and take a group photo. The run will start at 7:00 a.m. Runners will head out along Kelly Drive as a group and break off according to distance (3, 5, or 8 miles) and pace.

The finish will be on Kelly Drive at Lloyd Hall, where Dietz & Watson, title sponsor for the Philadelphia Half Marathon, will be grilling hot dogs, and runners will have the opportunity to engage with some of the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend partners until approximately 8:45 a.m.

Race Weekend 2025 features the AACR Philadelphia Marathon and the Nemours Children’s Health Philadelphia Kid’s Run on Sunday, November 23; the Dietz & Watson Philadelphia Half Marathon and the Rothman Orthopaedics 8K on Saturday, November 22; and a free two-day Health & Fitness Expo on Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22.

Registration is open for the AACR Philadelphia Marathon, Dietz & Watson Philadelphia Half Marathon, and the Rothman Orthopaedics 8K, but races are expected to sell out quickly. Participants can register for a race at philadelphiamarathon.com.

  • 7 a.m. – Run begins at the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps
  • 7:30-8:45 a.m. – Runners finish at Lloyd Hall

The Philadelphia Marathon Weekend, now in its 32nd year, has grown tremendously since the first race in 1994. What started as a small local event of just 1,500 participants has become one of the top 10 marathons in the country.
