2025 Philadelphia Marathon and Half Marathon Sell Out in Record Time
The Rothman Orthopaedics 8K is anticipated to sell out soon
PHILADELPHIA – Philadelphia Marathon Weekend organizers are excited to announce that the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Philadelphia Marathon and Dietz & Watson Philadelphia Half Marathon have officially sold out. This is the earliest that the races have sold out in the 32 years that the marathon has been taking place — more than two months earlier than last year’s sell-out date for the full marathon and nearly four weeks earlier than last year’s sell-out date for the half.
“We’re thrilled to see these races remain top choices for runners in the region and around the world,” said Kathleen Titus, Race Director for Philadelphia Marathon Weekend. “Each year, Philadelphia Marathon Weekend grows in size and energy, and we’re proud to welcome thousands of participants and spectators to experience not only an exceptional race weekend, but also the history, culture, and iconic sights that make Philadelphia special.”
Participants who would still like to compete in Philadelphia Marathon Weekend can sign up for the Rothman Orthopaedics 8K, a race challenge, or join the AACR Runners for Research team. Race Weekend 2025 anticipates an attendance of 37,000 participants.
“I’m extremely proud of the annual growth of the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend,” said David G. Wilson, Deputy Managing Director for General Services, City of Philadelphia. “The City of Philadelphia and our race team, alongside our dedicated sponsors and partners, do an exceptional job to create a world-class race experience, and we look forward to welcoming participants this year for a great race weekend.”
This year’s Philadelphia Marathon Weekend will welcome participants from nearly 60 countries worldwide, as well as from states across the U.S. Race Weekend 2025 features the AACR Philadelphia Marathon and the Nemours Children’s Health Philadelphia Kid’s Run on Sunday, November 23; the Dietz & Watson Philadelphia Half Marathon and the Rothman Orthopaedics 8K on Saturday, November 22; and a free two-day Health & Fitness Expo on Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22.
Registration for the Rothman Orthopaedics 8K and Nemours Children’s Health Philadelphia Kids’ Run is still open. Participants can register at philadelphiamarathon.com.

About the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend
The Philadelphia Marathon Weekend, now in its 32nd year, has grown tremendously since the first race in 1994. What started as a small local event of just 1,500 participants has become one of the top 10 marathons in the country. The course guides participants through a unique experience of centuries of history and architecture, diverse and lively neighborhoods, and remarkable views throughout Fairmount Park and along the Schuylkill River. Each year, spectators line the course, eager to cheer on athletes, because there’s nothing Philadelphians love more than champions.
Race Weekend 2025 has an anticipated attendance of 37,000 participants and features the AACR Philadelphia Marathon and the Nemours Children’s Health Philadelphia Kid’s Run on Sunday, November 23; the Dietz & Watson Philadelphia Half Marathon and the Rothman Orthopaedics 8K on Saturday, November 22; and a free two-day Health & Fitness Expo on Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22.
