Pro & U.S. Olympic Runner Will be Attending The Philadelphia Marathon Weekend

Aliphine Tuliamuk added to the list of Philadelphia Marathon Weekend Ambassadors

Philadelphia, PA (September 9, 2021)- We are less than 100 days until runners discover the most beautiful and scenic course in Philadelphia that highlights some of the city's most iconic landmarks including Independence Hall, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Liberty Bell Center. The AACR Philadelphia Marathon is consistently listed among the top ten marathons in the country. The weekend starts with the Dietz & Watson Philadelphia Half Marathon, Rothman Orthopaedics 8K and Dunkin’ Munchkin Kids Run on Saturday, November 20. The full AACR Philadelphia Marathon will be held on Sunday, November 21. Runners will meet at 7:00 a.m. at 22nd Street & Benjamin Franklin Parkway, near the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Joining the fun weekend is pro and U.S. Olympic runner Aliphine Tuliamuk. Tuliamuk has been a world class athlete since placing 9th in 21:09 at 2005 IAAF World Cross Country Championship-Junior Women’s Race.

Tuliamuk’s racing resume is remarkable. In college, she was an All-American at Wichita State University. She became a First Team NCAA Division I All-American in cross country. She then gained her U.S. citizenship in 2016, and in her first year of being a U.S. citizen she claimed national road titles over 25K, 20K, and 5K, adding runner-up at the 10-mile championship. She finished eighth in the 10,000 meters at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials and is a 9-time USATF Champion. Tuliamuk has inspired a lot of people. At the 2020 U.S. Olympics Women’s Marathon Trials, she shocked the world finishing in first place with a time of 2:27:23 to make her first U.S. Olympic Team. In January of 2021, she gave birth to a baby girl, Zoe, seven months before competing in the Tokyo Olympics.

Tuliamuk also helps lead Rising New York Road Runners’ “Active at Home” program which provides free and fun fitness activities for children of all ages and abilities. During the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend, Tuliamuk will be joining Meb Kefezighi and Bart Yasso for various race engagements throughout the weekend.

“I’m excited to be visiting the great city of Philadelphia and meeting runners from all over the world at the AACR Philadelphia Marathon. I’ve heard amazing things about this race, and I am grateful I’ll get to see it for myself,” said Aliphine Tuliamuk.
