Philadelphia Moves Towards An Electric Lifestyle

Ford Named the Official Auto and Pace Car of the 2022 Philadelphia Marathon Weekend

Philadelphia, PA (September 29, 2022) - The City of Philadelphia has announced that it is moving towards an electric lifestyle as it names Ford the official auto and pace car of the 2022 Philadelphia Marathon Weekend. Ford’s most electrifying products such as the Mustang Mach-E® SUV and the F-150 Lightning® will lead the runners throughout the City of Philadelphia in all three events. Race Weekend 2022 features a free two-day Health & Fitness Expo on Friday, November 18, and Saturday, November 19; where the Ford vehicles will be on display and give the community an opportunity to learn more about the electric lifestyle.

The City of Philadelphia said last year that it’s working towards eliminating emissions in the buildings, energy, transportation, and waste sectors by 2050. Those goals include the city transitioning around 6,400 vehicles to clean and electric cars as laid out in its Clean Fleet Plan.

Nationally, transportation is the largest source of carbon emissions. Currently representing about 13% of the municipal government’s carbon footprint, vehicle emissions are an important area to tackle to achieve the City’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. Across the country, government agencies and auto manufacturers such as Ford, are also getting in the game and seeing the benefits of doing so.

With the additional $54,000 added to the prize money grand total, exceptional Expo exhibits such as Ford, outstanding Professional Ambassadors, and the return of the Kids Fun Run, the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend celebrates its 29th year with many reasons to rejoice. The 2022 Philadelphia Marathon Weekend will start with the Dietz & Watson Philadelphia Half Marathon, Rothman Orthopaedics 8K, and Kids Fun Run on Saturday, November 19. The full AACR Philadelphia Marathon will be held on Sunday, November 20. Wheelchairs will start at 6:55 a.m. and Runners/Walkers will start at 7:00 a.m. at 22nd Street & Benjamin Franklin Parkway, near the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
