FAQ

What are the age group world rankings?

The rankings operate over a year-long period in which points are scored for performances in any official qualifying event for the rankings. The first rankings period began at the 2018 BMW BERLIN-MARATHON and ended at the 2019 BMW BERLIN-MARATHON. The first edition of the rankings has now closed.

How are points scored?

Points are awarded based on how well you performed against other runners in your age group. For a full breakdown of how points are calculated, you can visit the How it Works page of the Rankings section of the website.

What was the deadline for ensuring I had the correct points in my verified profile in order to receive an invite to the 2021 event?

The deadline was 2359 BST on October 5th 2020. The final rankings recalculation was made after this time and qualified athletes were determined from these rankings. Any results claimed or profiles created which earned points in the first edition of the rankings after this time are not eligible to receive an invite.

I changed age group during the rankings period and ran a race in my new age group, but my ranking remained in the younger age group. Why?

In the first edition of the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Rankings, your age group for the rankings was locked down once you run a race in that rankings period. Points scored in any subsequent races were attributed to you in that first age group.

For example: if you run a qualifying race aged 44 you will be locked down in the 40-44 age group for the qualifying period. If you then turn 45 and run any other qualifying races, the points from those races (if they are among your top two scores) will be allocated to your ranking in your 40-44 age group.
